German manufacturer of pumps for the mining, industrial and marine sectors. Founded in 1947 in Düsseldorf by Wilhelm Abel, ABEL is headquartered in Büchen near Hamburg, where design and development, production and customer service are located. The range is built around hydraulic piston diaphragm pumps (HMD, HMT and HMQ) for abrasive slurries at high pressure, electrically driven diaphragm pumps (EM) and solids handling, high-pressure and marine pumps. Since March 2021 ABEL has been part of IDEX Corporation, which acquired Abel Pumps, L.P. from Hillenbrand for about USD 103.5 million. The group employs around 150 people worldwide.

Product portfolio

4+ product families. ABEL pumps centre on positive displacement diaphragm technology. The EM series is an electrically driven diaphragm pump up to 40 m³/h, the HM range (HMD, HMT, HMQ with 2, 3 or 4 diaphragms) delivers up to 410 m³/h and 250 bar for abrasive slurries in mining, filter press feed and industrial sludge handling.
